The Garmin Vista HCx GPS is for deep foliage. Canyons should not cause the eTrex Vista HCx to loose it signal. It has a high-sensitivity GPS receiver which holds a satellite signal in the extreme environments. This handheld reciever has a bright color screen, barometric altimeter, electronic compass, microSD™ card slot and automatic routing for wherever adventure takes you.

You are really doing your homework if you are taking your time looking for a good GPS. That is great! Is this the GPS of choice? And is it as good as all the hype around the Internet makes it to be. I would say, "Yes!" This is a small unit, light, and has a color screen, plus it's water tight. The Vista HCx should be able to meed your needs and a lot more. It is easy to handle and has a very cool big and bright screen to read in the sun.

Yes, the antenna is sensitive and it will lock onto satellites easily inside of homes or buildings. I can truthfully inform you it does this quickly. Garmin GPS receivers are magic. You can read anywhere online that you need line of sight to pick up satellites, but the Vista HCx unit works excellent in a building or outside. The signal is strong and can connect almost anywhere unless your in a lead building or underground.

It's easy to navigate the menu and it's intuitive. This GPS unit is the choice for anyone and it is really hard to beat the benefits and features of the Vista HCx. You won't have navigation worries when you are out on your adventure, this is the one to get you where you need to go and the one that will work well for you.
